Citizen Advisory Committee
September 25, 2006 - Meeting Synopsis
The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) met at 6:00 PM at the Carrabelle City meeting room. The primary purpose of the meeting was for participants to become familiar with writing language appropriate and effective for goals, objectives, and polices for Comprehensive Plans. Dan Pennington of 1000 Friends of Florida presented information on the Comp Planning process and the correlation between the goals, objectives, policies and land development regulations. Hand-outs were provided and links to websites that will hosts copies of the EAR Report, FSU products from the previous visioning effort and the changes previously recommended by the CAC in 2005. These copies are only intended to assist with information that may help the subcommittees find a starting point or serve as a resource. They in no way define or limit what the subcommittees may address.
Dan Pennington was asked how to make the committee’s work representative of and acceptable around the county. He advised to work in a collaborative manner to a great degree with the County Planning office. Everyone was encouraged to communicate the schedules of the subcommittee meetings and the overall effort to interested folks around the county and encourage them to participate.
After Dan Pennington’s discussion, Gail Riegelmayer facilitated filling in the attached Timeline. The subcommittees Team Leaders will set at least their first subcommittee meetings date and provide that information to Dan Tonsmeire so it can be sent out to all the contacts on the updated sheet of names and the media.
Skip Frink volunteered to write press releases for the group.
