Tom Vanderplaats reported that the Water Department experienced no problems during the Memorial Day holiday and thanked the residents for their conservation efforts. Vicki Barnett stated there were four sea turtle nests and four false crawls so far. If anyone needs more turtle information, call her. Alan Pierce addressed the members and answered questions. The Army Corps. of Engineers is working on a project to stabilize the existing revetment and has a plan for a $1 million structure to protect the road. This 2,500 revetment is planned to be seaward of the existing one, about 20 feet offshore, covered with 1,000 loads of sand and includes sheet piling. It will not be built in front of any existing homes except for those three to be removed or demolished. Steven Carter is in charge of this project that is being completed on an emergency basis. Alan will propose a workshop to be held. Alan also addressed the new Florida building codes and Steve Fling stated that state fire fighters are questioning the new standards. Tom VanderPlaats had questions about the houses being built on George Vause Road and asked Alan if the County could state where road is. Alan offered to split the cost of a survey once the Water Board received a cost estimate. Respectfully Submitted, Ann Maruszak
