Neighborhood Watch Program for Alligator Point

Pilot Program for Franklin County

At 10:15 a.m., Saturday, March 8th, following the regular monthly APTA Board Meeting, Sgt Robert Murray, Certified Crime Prevention Professional, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, will speak on the following topics:

  • Establishing a Neighborhood Watch Program for Alligator Point which would be the pilot program for Franklin County

  • How the Crime Stoppers program works and how it can benefit the residents of Alligator Point

  • Availability of free home security inspections by the Franklin County Sheriff's office

This presentation is the result of discussions your Public Safety Committee had with Sheriff Bruce Varnes last year. Following those discussions, Sheriff Varnes identified Sgt Murray to take the required training to become the first Certified Crime Prevention Professional in the Franklin County Sheriff's office. Sgt Murray has just completed the certification training is excited to initiate formal crime prevention programs for Franklin County communities.

Please plan to stay for Sgt Murray's presentation. I believe this is an important step in deterring crime on Alligator and Bald Points.
