Franklin County Community Consensus Process

Growth and Economic Development Workshop Report

Cover letter by Dr. Tom Taylor

Here is the report from the Growth and Economic Development Workshop held March 18.

The level of participation in the first two workshops has been great! It is a challenge to look at the long-term and at immediate needs; to consider the full range of issues and options and deal with each issue in-depth; and to let people talk about anything they want to and to keep the group focused on one topic at a time.

It is important to keep in mind that the first workshop looked at the full range of issues and options. The second, third and fourth workshops are intended to further develop some of the ideas from the first workshop and other ideas participants raise. These ideas and others will be incorporated into proposed recommendations by County Planners, the FSU consulting team and others from the community and involved agencies. In addition there will be a series of workshops

in the Fall that will focus on recommendations for St. James Island. All of these recommendations will be brought back in the public workshops in January.

Your continued commitment to the consensus process can contribute to creating the kind of community you want Franklin County to be.
