WATER USE EMERGENCY

The Alligator Point Water Resources District declared a water use emergency at its regular scheduled meeting held Saturday, May 17, 2003. Water production by the district has been severely limited due to the failure of the new well field to produce sufficient supply to meet peak demand and the continued drought conditions. The following are highlights of residential water use restrictions in effect immediately:

  • Washing of Vehicles is permitted on Wednesday only.

  • Watering lawns, plants and landscaping is restricted to the following days and hours: houses with odd numbers Monday and Wednesday from 12:01 a.m. to 7:01 a.m.; houses with even numbers Tuesday and Thursday from 12:01 a.m. to 7:01 a.m.

  • Rinsing of boats and flushing of boat engines after uses shall be limited to ten minutes a day.

  • Outside pressure cleaning is allowed, using low volume process only, Monday through Friday.

The restrictions apply to all customers served by the District.

Customers that violate the policy will receive one written reminder notice for the first violation within a calendar year. The second violation the District will assess the user a $50.00 fee. A third violation during the same calendar year is $150.00 and any subsequent violations within the calendar year shall result in a $500.00 fine. The fines will be included in the customer’s next billing. Fees not paid within 30 days will accrue interest of 10% per annum and could result in disconnection.
