Franklin County Community Planning Workshop 5

Development and Landuse Special Issues

Summary Report Notice

Here is the report from the workshop on special issues related to development and landuse held on July 15.

The issues addressed were:

  1. What, if anything, is needed to encourage quality communities?
  2. What changes, if any, are needed in housing density standards?
  3. How can impacts of high occupancy, short-term rental houses be addressed?

The results of this and other workshops will be used by the County, the FSU Consulting Team, community leaders and others in preparing the Comprehensive plan update, other planning efforts and in day-to-day decision-making. Your input is important and appreciated!

Please forward and share this report with others who may be interested.

The next special workshop will be on the County's Development Regulation System on August 19 from 6:00 - 9:30 at the Court House Annex in Apalachicola.

The workshop purpose is to:

1) Clarify the roles of the Co. Commission, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustments and Planning and Building Department

2) Identify and clarify issues to be addressed

3) Seek consensus on regulation system enhancements

Please contact me if you have questions, comments or suggestions regarding the community planning process.
