Swimming Advisory Still in Effect at Alligator Point
A Swimming advisory remains in effect this week for Alligator Point because
of bacteria in the water. The Department of Health says they have found
enterococcus bacteria in the waters off Alligator Point and for Mashes
Island in Wakulla County and say humans should not swim there. The advisory
against swimming off Alligator Point has been in effect since July 12th
State Health officials take water samples from 5 locations in Franklin
County, 6 in Gulf County and 2 in Wakulla County every week to insure the
waters are safe for swimming. There are currently no swimming advisories in
effect in Gulf County.
