Mock Replaces Boss Varnes As Sheriff Franklin County voters chose their native son, Mike Mock, as the new sheriff Tuesday. With all precincts reporting, Mock, a Democrat, received 4,104 of the 5,843 votes cast, or 70 percent, beating out Republican Bruce Barnes for the county's top law-enforcement post.
