Posted July 28, 2005 Hurricane Dennis Weather Data I reported in a previous posting that we are fortunate that a personal weather station is located at the Point collecting local weather data. We are in fact doubly fortunate because there is a second personal weather station, this one located at Bald Point. The weather station at Alligator Point was damaged during Hurricane Dennis so the weather history for the period of Dennis’ most significant impact was not collected. However, the weather station at Bald Point is located high in a fortified house that also has a generator. This weather station remained operational all during Dennis thus we have data history. You can access both weather stations by logging on to WeatherUnderground.comEnter Alligator Point, Florida at the box that says "Find Weather for any city". Then scroll to the bottom of the page to select the personal weather station that you want to access. I created two files from the data displayed that shows weather data for Hurricane Dennis as recorded at the Bald Point weather station on July 10. Hurricane Dennis Weather Graphs July10 shows very well the sustained high winds peaking with a wind gust of 73 MPH. It also shows the low barometric pressure in an around the time of the storm surge.
