County Road 370 Resurfacing Begins

NOTE from APTAWEB: The long anticipated resurfacing of CR 370 began this week. APTA previously made a request to the County to begin the resurfacing at Phipps Preserve located at the Marina end of Alligator Drive. The project calls for resurfacing of CR 370 from US 98 to Phipps Preserve, but does not include that portion of Alligator Drive which is under discussion for relocation.

APTA President, John Murphy received the email below from Franklin County Director of Administrative Serves, Alan Pierce regarding the commencement of the project.

"John:

Please be advised, if you haven’t heard already, asphalt is being placed at Alligator Point. As fate would have it, the asphalt is being put down at the US 98, instead of the marina end. While some residents may come to the conclusion that this was intentional, it was not. Re-surfacing roads does create requirements and obligations imposed by the state for silt fencing, and the sub-contractor putting down the silt fencing started at the US 98 end. Rather then delay starting the project until all the silt fencing was installed, the paving contractor chose to start at US 98. When the silt fence is installed at the marina they will then shift operations to the marina end. This should be next week.
