Subject: Bald Point State Park- 2014 Coastal Clean-Up September, 20th 2014 at 8:30am

This is a message from Dustin Allen at Bald Point State Park;

It’s that time again for the Annual Coastal Clean-up Event at Bald Point State Park. We will be meeting at 146 Box Cut Rd. Alligator Point, Florida 32346 on Saturday, September, 20th 2014 at 8:30am.

Last year we had a record year with 11.97 tons of materials collected off our shoreline with the help of 58 outstanding hard working volunteers. The materials collected last year consisted of old road materials, an old concrete beach access from what we believe was from the 70’s or 80’s, building materials and a large amount of litter that has been washed up from past storms and from day to day tide fluctuations. Unfortnately, even with the very successful year last year there is still tons of materials left to be collected on our shorelines. Last year we had 1 large dumpster that was over filled beyond its means and Franklin County waste management had to divide the materials into 2 dumpsters for transport. So this year we have requested 2 large dumpsters and a Port-o-potty to help accommodate this year’s clean-up.

Volunteers should bring or wear:

Sunscreen, Bug spray, Water bottle, Protective Clothing (hat, long pants, long sleeved shirt, Closed toe shoes or water shoes and Gloves).

Volunteers will be provided with: Trash Bags, Drinking water, Data Cards, Gloves, T-shirts. (while Supplies Last)

We are hoping for another successful year for this year’s clean-up. Please RSVP to help with making sure I will have enough supplies to accommodate our individual and group volunteers for this year’s clean-up. So come on out and enjoy a day giving back to our Florida Coastline that we all enjoy so much and are real fortunate to live near.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have in regards to the clean-up.

Thanks,

Dustin Allen, Park Services Specialist, Bald Point State Park
